Washington, DC (July 31, 2023)Epstein Becker Green and its affiliate consultancy EBG Advisors have announced two additions to their national network, further expanding the consultancy’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

Mosaic Data Science, a leading data science consulting company, and Ethics Through Analytics, a group of social scientists, join EBG Advisors in the expansion of the nationwide algorithmic bias auditing and risk management consulting services.

Developed in alignment with the AI Risk Management Framework developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), EBG Advisors unites data and social scientists to identify and advise on processes that can help reduce bias in AI without being cumbersome or blocking progress.

“As NIST aptly outlines in Special Publication 1270, identifying the future impacts of AI  requires the involvement of a multidisciplinary team of professionals,” said Bradley Merrill Thompson, Member of the Firm at Epstein Becker Green and Chief Data Scientist at EBG Advisors. “Our advisory adopts this socio-technical perspective, pairing top-notch attorneys from Epstein Becker Green with industry-leading data and social scientists—like those at Mosaic Data Science and Ethics Through Analytics—to critically evaluate the AI lifecycle for potential risk and abuse.”

Although many legal advisors have only recently instituted AI-related services, Epstein Becker Green has advised clients on AI systems for many years and has been involved in more than 200 health care and labor or employment projects involving AI. Recently, Epstein Becker Green held its annual AI Briefing, “Achieving Legal Compliance in AI: Minimizing Bias in Algorithms,” which focused on AI-related legal risks and how to tailor compliance programs to address those risks.
