Jerry Williamson, M.D., F.A.A.P., MJ. CHC. L.H.R.M., is a Strategic Consultant with EBG Advisors, Inc.
Dr. Williamson is a Board Certified physician with a Masters in Health Jurisprudence from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is a Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager, and is also certified in Healthcare Compliance by the Healthcare Compliance Association. He has over 35 years experience in private practice and healthcare management. Following 15 years of private medical practice he dedicated himself to healthcare administration and leadership. During his career, he served as Medical Director for a Third Party Administrator, Vice President of Medical Affairs for a 280 bed hospital, Assistant Medical Director for a Staff Model HMO and as a private practice physician.
He is a frequently requested speaker and consultant on such topics as MACRA, HIPAA, Healthcare Compliance, Medical Coding, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Prevention of Medical Errors, Physician Burnout, Health Information Technology, Regulatory Topics, and Practice Management areas for professional organizations, and Medical Associations.
Dr. Williamson is a certified AHIMA trainer for ICD-10, and a consultant with The American Academy of Professional Coders. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and former Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of South Florida College of Medicine. He served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at NOVA Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also served as Clinical Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Sciences, College of Allied Health, NOVA Southeastern University. He is a former Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, and Clinical Clerkship Training Coordinator at The Florida State University College of Medicine. At the College he continues to serve as an affiliate of The Center for Innovative Collaboration in Medicine and Law. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is an affiliate member of the Health Law Division of the Florida Bar.
Dr. Williamson is also a Supreme Court Certified Dependency Mediator and formally trained arbitrator, and listed neutral with the American Arbitration Association. He formerly served as a “Meaningful Use Clinician Champion” to The Center for the Advancement of Health Information Technology, a Regional Extension Center in Florida. For 15 years he was in a senior leadership role with Collier Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center in South Florida, where he formerly served as the Chief Medical Officer and Director of the Biomedical Informatics Program. He is the 2012 recipient of the “Heroes in Healthcare” award from the Naples Daily News, for Administrative Excellence in Healthcare. Currently he is an independent consultant, educator, and national speaker.
